Bible Dictionary Project Template Essay

Old Testament Bible Dictionary Project: Genesis is the book of beginnings. It tells the story of the beginning of the human race, in general and the beginning of the Hebrew race. The Hebrew Bible titles the book bereshith (â€Å"in the beginning†) The Author: Moses, and the Recipients: Israelites, Date: 1445 BC. (â€Å"In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth† Gen 1:1) Genesis introduces God is an absolute personal being who cares about his creation and the human struggle of the fallen world. God speaks, creates, calls, blesses, promises, and visits his creation. Genesis tells the story of the successes and failures of his people like Adam and Eve, Noah’s family, Abraham and Sarah, Isaac and Rebekah, Jacobs’s wives and his twelve sons. Genesis shows its heroes as they really were. Genesis covers more time than any other biblical book. Genesis also emphasizes the importance of the Abrahamic Covenant, which gave Israel a right to the land (Gen 15: 18-21) the book was written so Moses, generation would trust God by better understanding Israel’s past Heritage, Present Purpose, and Future Destiny as they anticipated entrance into the Promised Land. The first two chapters of Genesis describe Gods original work of creation (Gen 1:1-2:25) The biblical description of creation is â€Å"EX nihilo† (from nothing) The beginning of Genesis is to teach us about the of all that God created and the rest of the book is about Patriarchal History (Gen 11; 10-50:26) Genesis 1 and 2 explain the good within the world, Genesis 3 explains the bad within the world. Genesis quickly moves from the world as God made it, to the world as we know it today. It traces how the human race, spoiled by Adam and Eve’s first sin, steadily deteriorated as it  increasingly ignored God until he decided to wipe out everyone and start over again. Abraham, The adventure begins with the friend of God. His name was Abram, and later he was called Abraham (â€Å"Great Father†) Abraham was from UR. One of the great cities of Sumerian civilization, Abraham worshipped the moon God before he met the living God. Abraham was born (c.1800 BC.) and died at the age of 175, and he was buried in a cave in Hebron. (Gen 13:18, 25: 7-10) When God asked Abraham to help him with his plan for the world, Abraham was 75 years old and his wife Sarah was 65 years old. They didn’t have any children, but God promised them a child of their own if Abraham trusted and believed the plan God had for their life. Abraham left UR, to follow the will that God had planned for his life. So he traveled north until he reached Canaan, the land to which God was leading him. God said if you do this for me, I promise you that you will have your own family and your descendants would become a great nation. (Gen 12:1-3, 15:5) And through him every nation on earth will be blessed through him. (Gen12:3, 18:16-19) So now Abraham was just a wandering traveler of the land that would one day belong to his descendants forever (Gen 15:12-21) However for these promises to come true, Abraham needed a son, and needed to trust in God and God only. Abraham and Sarah got tired of waiting on God, so Abraham fathered Ishmael by the handmaid Hager. That was not Gods plan, it was the plain of Sarah because she did not believe Gods plan. Abraham learned that only God could bring about what had been promised to him. And so it was, at that ripe old age of 90 years old, Abraham’s wife had a son (Isaac) just as God had promised. The Promise and family had begun and everyone was overjoyed. And years later God tested Abraham’s faith in the promise, and asked Abraham to sacrifice his son Isaac, Abraham was afraid but got his son Isaac and told the servants they will return, and so it was. He passed the test of faith. Canaan (KAY nunn), was during the 2nd millennium BC, Its original pre- Israelite inhabitants were called Canaanites. Canaan area variously defined in Historical Biblical Literature, but always centered on Palestine. The human habitation of coastal Canaan can be traced back to Paleolithic and Mesolithic times 8,000 BC, The Promised Land Canaan that was later to be  called (Israel) this is the land God chose for his people. God could have chosen anywhere on earth to start outworking his plan, but chose this tiny land. The land was between the Jordan River and the Mediterranean Sea and north of Philistia, Old name for Palestine. Canaan was a place to potentially influence sitting as it did, at the crossroads of all the great trade routed in the ancient times. In Canaan, God gave Abraham three big promises. That his descendants would become a great nation (Gen 12:1-3, 15:5) That every nation on earth would be blessed through him (Gen 12:3,18:16-19) That the land where he was now just a wandering traveler, would one day belong to his descendants forever (Gen:15:12-21) But God didn’t say it was going to be easy. Before it became the Promised Land. It went though many challenges.† Canaan† Encompassing all of the Palestine and Syria, sometimes only the land west of the Jordon River, and sometimes just a strip of coastal land northward, The Israelites occupied and conquered Palestine or Canaan, beginning in the late 2nd millemium BC. Or perhaps earlier, and the Bible justifies such occupation by identifying Canaan with the Promised Land, the land promised to the Israelites by God. 2013 Ed Hindson ISBN:978-1-4336-8221-6 2006 Mike Beaumont ISBN:978-0-7459-5628-2 2003 Ed Hindson ISBN13:978-089957132-4 ISBN10:0-88957-132-8 2000 Karen Dockrey,Johnnie Godwin ISBN:978-1-57748-485-6

Local Literature Essay

Personality is the sum of one’s personal characteristics. It is one’s identity. The teachers, more than any other professional are momentarily subjected to scrutiny to the minutest detail and observation by those they associate with. Teachers are judged more strictly than the other professionals. The personality they project determined the impressions they make upon students’ and colleagues. Their poise, bearing and manner of dressing create a stunning and attractive appearance. Their facial expression communicates a friendly and amiable disposition. Personalities may be described as authoritative, weak, dynamic, or â€Å"magnetic†. Teachers’ personality must be natural and genuine, that is, devoid of pretenses and artificiality. They must be consistent, true and authentic. (Corpuz & Salandanan, 2006 p.12) In the highly complex world of human relations, it is essential that the conscientious teachers be concerned not only with how students’ interact with her but how they interact with their peers and with other adults. But concern is not enough. Little can be accomplished until students’ problems pertaining to human relations have been identified. (Salandanan, 2010 p.18) Once the teachers is more aware with the social relationships among her students’ she is in the better position to select a technique for teaching human relations. Toward this end, the teacher must first identify students’ problems pertaining to human relations. The identification such problem gives the teacher a basis for considering what techniques for improving human relations she might employ. (â€Å"Teaching techniques for improving human relations†, p.459 n.d) No single factor can contribute more to an improved student achievement than the guarantee of a quality teacher in every classroom. No amount of classroom facilities and instructional materials can produced the desired learning outcome without a teacher at the center stage. Quality is synonymous to competence, creativity and commitment, contextualized in the teaching profession. Competence highlights a teacher’s adequate knowledge, proficient skills and trustworthiness. Creativity is a kin to originality,  flexibility and innovativeness. Worthwhile values of compassion and commitment provide the fine ingredients that make teaching truly humane and enriched with a sincere feeling of accountability. Quality teachers’ can be found in our schools today. Adequately prepared through quality pre-service programs and continually motivated to grow while in the service, their competence to teach is assured. The attitudes and values that they project in and out of the classrooms, in the home and community, provide positively and satisfactorily the answer to the perennial search for quality teachers. As paragons of virtues and progressive attitudes, they truly deserve the priceless rewards, recognition and emulation of the whole nation. With full pride and confidence, every parent and community can lay upon their chests the growth and nurturance of their sons and daughters for a promising future. (â€Å"Quality teacher†, p.7-11 n.d) The teacher rightfully deserves to be enthroned at the center stage of any educational endeavor. She is the distinct ray of light that illumines the mind touches the heart and buoys aloft the spirit of the young. Every effort, initiative or enterprise aimed to educating the young needs a magic hand to provide the much-needed direction, guidance and energy throughout the educational journey. Assuming a number of roles that a leader, counselor, assistant and instructional manager, there is no task that demands more waking hours, strength and attention than the teaching-learning episode. Competent teachers produce competent students. The desire to grow and learn more and more is vital to the development of an exceptional proficiency and capability needed in the teaching profession. As a concluding statement, a definitive teacher personality is a picture of one who possesses outstanding mental, personal and social traits. Has a strong aptitude and interest in teaching the young, steep in worthwhile values and attitudes and competent in both content and teaching methodologies. The teacher with a definitive personality is bound to reach the minds and touch the hearts of the young. (Aquino, 2008 p. 35-38) Travis W. Twiford, Chair Mary E. Yakimowski-Srebnick Steven M. Anti-terror laws in India

Anti-terror laws in India History of anti-terror laws in India Terrorism has immensely affected India. The reasons for terrorism in India may vary vastly from religious to geographical to caste to history. The Indian Supreme Court took a note of it in Kartar Singh v. State of Punjab[1], where it observed that the country has been in the firm grip of spiraling terrorist violence and is caught between deadly pangs of disruptive activities. Apart from many skirmishes in various parts of the country, there were countless serious and horrendous events engulfing many cities with blood-bath, firing, looting, mad killing even without sparing women and children and reducing those areas into a graveyard, which brutal atrocities have rocked and shocked the whole nation Deplorably, determined youths lured by hard-core criminals and underground extremists and attracted by the ideology of terrorism are indulging in committing serious crimes against the humanity. Anti-terrorism laws in India have always been a subject of m uch controversy. One of the arguments is that these laws stand in the way of fundamental rights of citizens guaranteed by Part III of the Constitution. The anti-terrorist laws have been enacted before by the legislature and upheld by the judiciary though not without reluctance. The intention was to enact these statutes and bring them in force till the situation improves. The intention was not to make these drastic measures a permanent feature of law of the land. But because of continuing terrorist activities, the statutes have been reintroduced with requisite modifications. At present, the legislations in force to check terrorism in India are the National Security Act, 1980 and the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act, 1967. There have been other anti-terrorism laws in force in this country a different points in time. The first law made in independent India to deal with terrorism and terrorist activities that came into force on 30 Dec 1967 was The Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Ac t 1967. After the 9/11 attacks on the World Trade Center, the world’s outlook towards the terrorist and terrorist organization has changed the laws have become much more stringent to curb such activities. The Indian outlook also changed specially after the 13 December attack on the Indian parliament which is seen as a symbol of our democracy then it became necessary to enforce a law which would be more stringent so that the terrorist cannot go Scot free because after the lapse of TADA in 1995 following the wide spread complaint that it was being abused there was no law which could be used as a weapon against the rising terrorist activities in India. Prevention Of Terrorist Activities Act, 2002 In 2002 March session of the Indian parliament the Prevention Of Terrorist Activities (POTA) Act was introduced and it had widespread opposition not even in the Indian parliament but throughout India especially with the human rights organization because they thought that the act violate d most of the fundamental rights provided in the Indian constitution. The protagonists of the Act have, however, hailed the legislation on the ground that it has been effective in ensuring the speedy trial of those accused of indulging in or abetting terrorism. POTA is useful in stemming â€Å"state-sponsored cross-border terrorism†, as envisaged by the Home Minister L.K. Advani. The Prevention of Terrorism Act, 2002 (POTA), was seen as a controversial piece of legislation ever since it was conceived as a weapon against terrorism. Human rights groups as well as opposition parties have expressed strong reservations against the move, which they say violates citizens’ fundamental rights.

Research for Health Professionals Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 2000 words

Research for Health Professionals - Essay Example Therefore, basic research is undertaken to extend the base of knowledge in a discipline that helps to refine and redefine a theory (Pope & Mays, 2004). Critical Analysis Skills: Critical analysis is a multidimensional skill, a cognitive or mental process or set of procedures (Timmins, 2006). It involves reasoning and purposeful, systematic, reflective, rational, outcome-directed thinking based on a body of knowledge, as well as examination and analysis of all available information and ideas. Nursing practice mandates the use of high-level, systematic and organized critical thinking skills within the nursing process since it enhances clinical decision making, helping to identify patient needs and to determine the best nursing actions that will assist the patient in meeting those needs (Evans, 2003). Evidence-Based Practice: Nursing practice is increasingly dependent on evidence-based practice, where patient care decisions are made on the basis of the most updated and best clinical evidence. It is generally agreed that research findings from rigorous and relevant studies comprise the best type of evidence for modifying and reinforcing the nurses' decision-making processes, actions in the practice area, and interactions with clients. This indicates that nursing actions would increasingly be based on research evidences that would lead to clinically appropriate, cost-effective nursing actions with intent to producing more positive outcomes for the clients (Goldenberg, 2006). Research and Advancement in Nursing Practice: The advancement of the nursing profession would be heavily reliant on the integration of research, research outcomes, and education into the practice setting. Clinical nursing is and is expected to be enhanced by the products of research activities, development of theory and validation, identification of problems, and resolution of those based on science that is the derivative of research. This would, as expected, lead to the desired development of new nursing knowledge, advancement of health policies, and ultimately would culminate into enhancement of nursing profession (Sackett, Straus, , & Richardson, 2000). Key Elements of Literature Review: The "evidence" in the evidence-based practice is gained by systemically searching and analyzing reports of studies and research that are accessed through databases and libraries. In fact, the systemic review process is also a form of research where the reviewer develops a protocol for the review, asks legitimate questions, endeavors to glean the evidence, appraises it, and takes decisions whether the evidence is applicable in practice. In that sense, a research or literature review is not a summary of the study, rather it is a careful appraisal of its merits and flaws. A good critique objectively identifies both adequacy and inadequacy, and virtues as well as faults. This task involves a background literature review, formulating objectives and questions and describing inclusion criteria, a search strategy for the literature, assessment criteria, extraction and synthesis of data (Paterson, Thorne, Canam, & Jillings, 2001). Critical Analysis of the Literature Review In the paper, The Study of Nursing Documentation Complexities, published in
